Tangazo is a meeting place where we share ideas and explore efforts to improve our human conditions and quite simply make our lives better. All are welcome, none will be judged, but all are challenged to look beyond ourselves and our notions of how others think about issues of cultural, political and social significance. We are building bridges of communication between the many groups that make up the St. Louis Metropolitan Region by sharing and reflecting on the stories and lives of a diverse group of guests.

Join host Hank Thompson for an in-depth look at Saint Louis City and County politics. Today’s special guest is the Honorable James McGee, Mayor of Vinita Park in North Saint Louis County. Also joining are Tangazo regulars Tim Person and social justice activist Reverend Darryl Gregory Gray.

Discussions included the reduction of violent crime in Saint Louis, the spending of federal stimulus money in the city, and the continued disrespect of African American women on the Saint Louis County Council.

Today’s guests make note of the fact that the “Black Girl Magic” used to describe Saint Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones, Congresswoman Cori Bush, and Saint Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardener was not extended to the African American women on the Saint Louis County Council and that both black progressives and white progressives must face their disrespect for these women.
